The Quebec Landlords Association (APQ) Reacts to the Findings of the OmbudswomanMONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 1, 2012) - The Quebec Landlords Association (APQ) is not surprised by the findings of the Ombudswoman in her annual report 2011-2012.
"For many years we have been demanding additional resources to ensure that hearings would be held more quickly. Although new directors have been appointed and the Treasury Board has suspended the replacement clause from 4 to 10, the Régie du logement still needs the Government to give it the means to act," says Martin Messier, President of the APQ.
The hiring of special clerks could greatly reduce delays and highlight rapid accessibility which is the purpose of a Court of first instance.
"One should adopt a law reform so that hearings are no longer required in the event of non-payment of rent where the tenant does not introduce a specific defense," says Martin Messier, President of the APQ.
Founded in 1984, the Association of Quebec Landlords (APQ) is the most important association to offer services to the owners of rental residences while being present in all the regions of Quebec.
