Worker injured on condo site in Oakville, Ontario
Protective head gear is being credited by police with saving the life of a construction worker at an Oakville area condominium construction site.
On Thursday, Jan.6, at approximately 1:10 pm, Halton Regional police responded to an accident call at 2409 Ontario St. in Oakville, a condominium construction site at the foot of Bronte Village.
Police report that an eight-foot-long piece of aluminum, weighing 60 to 70 pounds, fell from the seventh storey of the condominium building under construction. A 31-year-old construction worker was struck by the falling beam and sustained head, face and upper torso injuries. Police last reported that he was listed in serious but stable condition. The cause of the accident is not immediately known.
The Ministry of Labour was called to the scene and was investigating the incident.
