CCA fall board meeting
BIM will affect ‘every construction company in Canada:’ Canadian Construction Association
Building Information Modelling is the domain of mostly larger contractors at the moment, but Canadian Construction Association chairman Brad Greene sees this changing in the not-so-distant future.
“As with many industry trends, it tends to start at the larger level and eventually (BIM) will become a fundamental issue in the industry,” Greene said in an interview with Reed Construction Data at the CCA’s fall board meeting in St. John’s, N.L.
BIM involves the creation and use of co-ordinated computable information about a project, helping to create efficiencies and lower costs in building design, construction and management.
“Several years from now, it’s hard to say whether it’s two or five years, BIM will be down at a grassroots level that will affect every construction company in Canada,” Greene said.
Greene also discussed what the CCA needs to do to prepare its members for the widespread adoption of BIM.
