Construction progresses on the addition to Mount Sinai Hospital on University Avenue in Toronto.

Crews build up, not out, at Vanbots’ Mount Sinai project

General contractor Vanbots Construction Corp. began the Mount Sinai Hospital addition in August 2007. Completion has been scheduled for March 2009.

The 150,000-square-foot, six-storey addition above the existing 14th floor was designed by G & G Partnership Architects.

Consultants are Halsall Associates Ltd. (structural) and LKM Consulting Engineers Inc. (mechanical/electrical).

Subcontractors include Outspan Concrete Structures Ltd. (formwork); Canadian Precast Ltd. Mometal Inc. (structural steel); Decoral Painting; Anco Contracting Inc. (drywall); Limen Masonry; Geo. A. Kelson Co. Ltd. (mechanical); The Plan Group (electrical); Gage Metal Cladding (siding/deck); Flynn Canada (Toronto) Ltd. (glass/roofing/waterproofing); and Otis Canada Inc. (elevators).
