Redevelopment plans for Oak Bay Beach Hotel proceed
The redevelopment of the Oak Bay Beach Hotel is finally coming to fruition. The new building will be constructed on the site of the original Oak Bay Beach Hotel, which was built in 1927.
The owner is currently completing pre-sales with the hope of starting site preparation in early fall. When complete in 2010, the Oak Bay Beach Hotel and Spa will combine hotel suites with 19 private residences.
Designed by Bas Smith Architects, the five-storey, 130,000-square-foot structure will be built by Durwest Construction.
Construction costs for the project are estimated at $40 million.
