First phase of Highway 7 widening near Ottawa complete

OTTAWA

The first phase of construction to widen Highway 7 from two to four lanes, between Highway 417 and Jinkinson Road in Ottawa, was recently completed as planned and opened to traffic.

The widening project is divided into three phases to avoid disruption to traffic. The remaining phases will widen Highway 7 from Jinkinson Road to west of Ashton Station Road. This phase is now under construction and expected to be completed by fall 2010

The last phase, Ashton Station Road to McNeely Avenue, near Carleton Place, is nearing detail design completion.

Construction is expected to start in 2010 and be completed by fall 2011.
