Canadian experts band together to better analyze core infrastructure

OTTAWA

Infrastructure Canada and the National Research Council-Institute for Research in Construction has partnered with Engineers Canada, representing the National Round Table on Sustainable Infrastructure, to better analyze core infrastructure.

The memorandum of understanding signed between these partners sets the stage for a collaborative research project to assess the state, performance and management of Canada’s core public infrastructure.

The NRC and Engineers Canada will establish nation-wide scientific and engineering methods and tools to measure the state, performance and management of core public infrastructure such as bridges, roads, public transit, potable water and wastewater systems.

These methods are expected to produce reliable quantitative information on the physical condition, performance, risk of failure, life-cycle costs and remaining service life of this public infrastructure.
