Wind power offers long-term potential for Ontario jobs
TORONTO
The launching of the TAI WIND Consortium to help push the offshore wind-power manufacturing agenda in Ontario can result in thousands of jobs.
“Climate change can be addressed through green solutions and that is good for the environment, the economy and communities in Ontario,” said Jos Etcheverry points to Germany’s 250,000 jobs in the renewable energy sector and in his native country of Spain there are 188,000 jobs in this same sector. These jobs do not count the thousands needed to get green technology plants and infrastructure built which is direct work for the construction industry.
The right policy framework for electricity and incentives for creating jobs and manufacturing in green technology is needed, adds Etcheverry.
