Excavation and shoring work continue at the future site of the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.
Crews dig in at Eastern Construction’s Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute project
General contractor Eastern Construction Co. Ltd. began the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute project in April 2007; completion has been scheduled for 2010.
Designed by Diamond + Schmitt Architects Inc., the project consists of two nine-storey research buildings. The buildings also offer a ground-floor coffee shop and three levels of underground parking.
Consultants are Carruthers & Wallace Ltd. (structural); H.H. Angus & Associates (mechanical/electrical); and Ferris & Associates Inc. (landscape).
Subcontractors include Terrasan Environmental (excavation); Anchor Shoring & Caissons Ltd.; Alliance Forming; C & T Reinforcing Steel Co. (1987) Ltd.; Limen Group (precast/masonry); Dufferin Concrete; Black & McDonald (mechanical); Guild Electric Ltd.; Vipond Fire Protection; Merit Glass Ltd.; Semple-Gooder Roofing Ltd./Triumph Roofing; and Kone Inc. (elevators).
