Construction is progressing for the Shops At Don Mills, a new community of residential, work and retail space in Toronto, Ontario.
EllisDon’s Shops At Don Mills project combines living, working and shopping
General contractor EllisDon Corp. began the work in September 2006 and completion is scheduled for October 2008. The 400,000-square-foot project consists of 11 buildings, ranging between one and two storeys high, and a four-storey, three-tray parkade structure.
Designed by Pellow + Associates Architects Inc., the Shops at Don Mills will also include a new town square with outdoor skating area, robotic fountain and public square.
Consultants are Read Jones Christoffersen Ltd. (structural); MMM Group (mechanical); Hammerschlag + Joffe (electrical); Giannone Associates Architects (building elevation); and Quinn Design Associates (landscape).
Subcontractors include Terrasan (demolition/excavating); Dolente (site services/sewers/watermains); R & B (electrical site services); Anchor Shoring & Caissons Ltd.; Harris Rebar; Structform International (formwork); MGT (structural steel); James Dick (concrete supply); Downsview Drywall (drywall/EIFS/structural studs) and Sprint-Insight (mechanical).
Also on the list of subcontractors are Net Electric; Paul and Douglas Sprinklers (sprinklers/fire protection); Nexlevel (fire protection); Tagg Industries (glass/glazing); Bothwell-Accurate Co. Ltd. (roofing); Schindler Elevator Corp.; Upper Canada Door and Hardware; Karajaal Design Aquatique Inc. (robotic fountain); Vixman (metal cladding/deck); Aldershot Landscape Contractors Ltd.; and D. Crupi & Sons Ltd. (asphalt/paving).
