Gas leak forces evacuation of 600 construction workers at Colorado job site

ANNAPOLIS, Colo.

More than 600 workers were evacuated recently because of a gas leak at the same construction site in Colorado where a worker was killed in a crane accident the previous week, reports the Denver Examiner.

On May 5, twenty firefighters were called to the Annapolis Towne Centre construction site when a worker accidentally struck a 2.5-inch line pressurized with 99 pounds of gas, fire officials said.

The leak caused gas to spread throughout the 11-storey building under construction. On April 30, construction worker Denis Umanzor was killed as he dismantled a crane 200 feet in the air at the Mariner Bay residential tower at the same complex.
