One of Montreal’s most prestigious public squares is getting an extensive makeover. Monseigneur-Charbonneau Square, which borders University Street, facing 1 Place Ville Marie, at the corner of René-Lévesque Boulevard, will see its area expand from 7,275 to 12,955 square feet.
The City of Montreal executive committee has approved the transfer of surface rights, including the refurbishing and maintenance of the site, to SITQ during a meeting on August 25.
Carole Arbour, Place Ville Marie building manager in charge of the project, says: “Granite blocks and concrete paving stones similar to those currently gracing Square Victoria will serve as a backdrop to new streetscape furnishings.
