Canadian companies can better understand how to tap into power and water sector opportunities in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar through an upcoming Export Development Canada (EDC) trade mission to the area.

EDC reports that the power and water sectors projects are booming in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), with over USD$60 billion of projects planned over the next five years.

A trade mission to the region is planned from Dec. 4-9, supported by Jean-François Croft, EDC’s chief representative for the Middle East region.

Canadian companies with engineering and construction firms within the power and water sectors; power transmission and distribution companies; companies offering innovative power and water management solutions; and environmental technologies providers could benefit from participating in the trade mission.

This trade mission is an opportunity to meet senior decision makers from the utility companies and projects leaders in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Among the potential meetings on the mission are visits with:

•Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority;

•Dubai Electricity and Water Authority

•Qatar General Electricity and Water Corp.;

•Saudi Electricity Co.

Networking with various key local players including contractors, lawyers and financial advisors will also be possible.

Participants can also interact and learn from Canadian companies already established in the region.

EDC is extending the trade mission invitation to key players in the Canadian power and water sectors that are positioned to take advantage of the unfolding opportunity in the GCC region.

Final selection of Canadian participants will be based on EDC’s dialogue with the various utilities and projects leaders.

The trade mission registration deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 26, and confirmation of mission participation will be issued early November.
